Life lets the Dinosaurs loose
The Newcastle attraction unleashes its biggest dinosaur experience yet with interactive shows and exhibits
Keep your eyes on your water glasses this weekend. A crowd of dinosaurs are on the loose in Newcastle.
Opening on Saturday (March 28), The Great Dinosaur Escape at the Life Science Centre brings more than 20 life-size animatronic dinosaurs to the city centre, including a nine-metre-long Tyrannosaurus rex that roars, moves and looms over visitors.
It’s the largest collection of its kind in the north of England - and there are reports that for some prehistoric residents, the enclosure hasn’t quite held.
Visitors are invited to step into the story, following a trail around the centre to track down the “escaped” dinosaurs, solving clues and cracking codes along the way.
The exhibition, developed by Dinosaurios Mexico, is making its UK debut in Newcastle.
Linda Conlon, chief executive at Life, said: “Dinosaurs have always been a firm favourite at Life and continue to capture people’s imaginations.
“With The Great Dinosaur Escape, visitors not only get the chance to see these magnificent creatures, but they can also become part of the story by being investigators and code breakers, following a specially created trail through the centre to help secure the dinosaur enclosure.”
Beyond the towering creatures, there’s plenty more for visitors to sink their teeth into, with dinosaur-themed live shows, hands-on experiments and workshops designed for schools and families alike.
Rafael Estevez, managing director of Dinosaurios Mexico, said: “This is an incredibly meaningful moment for us, bringing our animatronic dinosaur exhibition to the UK for the very first time… combining art, engineering and technology to bring experiences to life.”
Running for a limited time (the end date is to be confirmed) the experience is included with general admission.
