Self Esteem to headline Mouth of the Tyne
Brit Awards nominee announced for top Saturday night slot at Tynemouth Priory
Self Esteem will headline Saturday night at this year’s Mouth of the Tyne Festival.
The Sheffield-born artist, whose also goes by Rebecca Lucy Taylor, will perform at Tynemouth Priory and Castle on Saturday, July 11.
The booking follows her recent nomination for Artist of the Year at the 2026 Brit Awards, further cementing her status as one of the most influential voices in British pop.
Taylor released her third album and debut book, both titled A Complicated Woman, in 2025. Her breakthrough second album Prioritise Pleasure received widespread critical acclaim, earning nominations for the Mercury Prize and a Brit Award, and was named Album of the Year by both The Guardian and The Sunday Times Culture. Its lead single I Do This All the Time was also named The Guardian’s number one song of 2021.
Self Esteem has been a regular on stage in the North East. Only last year she played back to back sell out gigs at The Glasshouse and Newcastle o2 City Hall. She’s also clocked up rafter-troubling gigs at Wylam Brewery and headlined a memorable concert alongside the Royal Northern Sinfonia for BBC Proms in 2023.
Safe to say, tickets are not expected to languish at the virtual box office, so if you want one, set your reminders now.
Also announced for the festival is North Shields singer-songwriter Heidi Curtis, whose debut singles Undone and Siren have been released recently.
Tickets for Mouth of the Tyne Saturday gig go on sale this Friday (February 6) at 10am via Ticketmaster.
The festival returns following a strong 2025 edition, which featured headliners including Elbow, UB40 and Ministry of Sound. Ministry of Sound Classical will return to open the 2026 festival on July 10, with that show already sold out.
Alongside ticketed concerts, the festival will also feature free street entertainment, a parade involving local schoolchildren, a jazz stage and a pop-up silent disco.
