Seaham Food Festival set to dish up another tasty weekend
Traders from across County Durham and beyond are getting ready to descend on Seaham’s seafront for one of the region’s most popular foodie weekends.
The Seaham Food Festival returns on August 2 and 3, promising two days of street food, sweet treats, and celebrity chef demos – all against a North Sea backdrop.
More than 120 traders are expected, including returning favourites like The Barista Sisters, who will once again be serving artisan coffee from their mobile setup.
“The location is the best part about Seaham,” said Joanne Long. “We’re next to the sea and get a nice sea view out the back of our units. It’s always a great event and an opportunity to have a catch up with people.”
This year’s headline guest is MasterChef judge John Torode MBE, who’ll take to the cookery theatre stage on Sunday. He’ll be joined by Yes Chef winner Chris Baber, Dean Edwards, known for his budget-friendly recipes, and Bake Off 2024 favourite Nelly Ghaffar.
Cllr Lyndsey Fox from Durham County Council said: “We’re all excited for the return of Seaham Food Festival this year, and as always, with over 100 traders, there really is something for everyone.”
From loaded fries and hand-prepped fried chicken to sweet crepes and gourmet cakes, organisers are trailing plenty to keep visitors full and entertained throughout the weekend - and it’s all free to attend.
