JADE and Sam Fender honoured at prestigious Silver Clef awards
Two of the North East's biggest music stars picked up honours at the Royal Albert Hall ceremony celebrating the work of charity Nordoff Robbins and the power of music

North East stars JADE and Sam Fender were among the winners at this year’s O2 Silver Clef Awards, held at the Royal Albert Hall on July 9.
South Shields singer and former Little Mix star, JADE picked up the Best Female Award, while North Shields musician Sam was named Best Live Act at the annual event, which raises money for music therapy charity Nordoff and Robbins.
Accepting her award, JADE said: “I’m so proud to stand among so many groundbreaking and inspirational women in music and am truly honoured to win this award.
“I’ve always believed in using my voice for good in both my music and beyond. It means the world to me to be recognised by Nordoff and Robbins. They do such incredible work using the power of music to bring comfort, connection and joy to people.”
Sam said: “It’s an honour to receive the Best Live Act Award at this year’s O2 Silver Clef Awards.
“I’m so lucky to do this as a job. This award is especially meaningful because of the incredible work in music that Nordoff and Robbins do.”
The ceremony, which celebrated its 50th anniversary this year and was held at the Royal Albert Hall for the first time, also honoured artists including P!NK, Melanie C, Jessie J, Lily Allen, Rachel Chinouriri, Ludovico Einaudi, Max Richter, David Gray, Franz Ferdinand and James.
Since launching in 1976, the awards have raised millions of pounds to support Nordoff and Robbins’ music therapy work with children and adults across the UK.
