Going all POSH!
Newcastle Theatre Royal’s year-long training programme will culminate in a summer production of Laura Wade’s biting satire

Young performers from Newcastle Theatre Royal’s Project A training programme will take on POSH this summer as the year-long course reaches its finale.
Running from July 7-10 in the theatre’s Studio space, the production marks the culmination of intensive industry-focused training for the 2025/26 cohort of actors aged 18-25.
Written by Laura Wade, POSH follows a group of privileged Oxford students whose drunken dinner descends into something darker, exploring questions of class, influence and power.
Helen Milner, head of creative development at Newcastle Theatre Royal said: “Project A is about talent, discipline and ambition. Each year, these young artists show extraordinary commitment and growth, and POSH is a bold and challenging choice for their final production.
“This company brings real intelligence and energy to the work, and it’s incredibly exciting to see the next generation of North East talent take to the stage.”
The production also arrives as applications open for the next intake of Project A, which offers aspiring actors professional-standard training led by theatre-makers and directors.
Among the programme’s alumni are Ryan Nolan, who is set to appear alongside Catherine Zeta-Jones in forthcoming Prime Video thriller Kill Jackie; Smoggie Queens’ Elijah Young; and Gerry and Sewell’s Erin Mullen.
Project A actor Isla Bradshaw said: “Working on POSH will push us as actors and as an ensemble. The play is funny, unsettling and fiercely relevant, and it will be an amazing way to finish the course together.
“Performing this work on a professional stage feels like a real launch into the industry.”
Applications for the 2026/27 Project A cohort close on May 31. Visit the website for details.
