Debut solo album for Cornshed Sister
Liz Corney is stepping out in front for new long player, We Need New Eyes
Fans of Cornshed Sisters and Field Music won’t need introducing to Liz Corney.
A founding member (sibling) of the folk fusion quartet alongside Marie Nixon, Jennie Brewis and Cath Stephens, Liz has also been a regular presence looking after keys on the live stage with the (Field Music) Brewis brothers for more years than any of us care to count.
On October 18, she is stepping out on her own with her debut solo album, We Need New Eyes and its first single release, Ceremonies.
Exploring themes including growing older and accepting change, the album has been co-produced by the aforementioned David Brewis and is described as ‘deeply positive and uplifting’… listeners should also feel compelled to move and feel good.
Sounds good to us.
Of Ceremonies, Liz says: "This song is about not doing some of the significant milestones that form part of adulthood. Consciously and unconsciously. Merrily living one's life and then suddenly feeling quite aware you haven't done those things.
“To me this song is like your working out page at school… and the marimba part was very fun to play.”
An album launch party is booked at The Cluny on the afternoon of October 20 (doors open at 12pm).
We Need New Eyes, released on North East label, Butterfly Effect, is released on October 18 on limited edition 12” vinyl and all the digital places. You can pre-order and hear a couple of songs now on Bandcamp. Tickets for The Cluny launch are available here.
